Shopping Malls in the future

As you probably know im a really big fan of shopping, and when I heard about the malls in the future, i was like OMG! I have to read this article so this is what I learned. I learned that one of the most popular malls inthe future will be Boxpark. It is located in London, but it will probably spread all around the world. This mall is special because it is not made out of the normal material of shops. There will be none of the glass façades and pale paving typical of high-street shopping centres - this one will be made out of 60 shipping containers, with big brands such as Oakley, Nike and Puma, independent retailers and cafés and concept stores all housed in big metal boxes.

This information that I learned about got me really interested on this mall. I cant wait to go to London and visit it! I told everyone in my family (except my dad) about this mall, and my mom and my sister also seemed interested too se how it looked. I think this was one of the most interesting things I learned from current events coz I really want to know more about it, and I hope that I will continue reading about it after this current event is over.

The 6.2 kg BABY!

Have you ever seen a a baby at birth that ways more then four kg? well just a few days ago a 6.2 kg, baby was born! The baby was born and as big as the double size of normal babies. A baby girl weighting 6,2 kilograms was born just a few days ago in . It . The baby was tall 56 cm, and it was the largest baby in the hospital.  The mother itself, was a chubby baby at birth, she weighs 240 kg, and her name is Elfi Yagh.

I think that this was a very interseting article, especially the part where I found out that there was in the world a 6 kg baby! This makes me think about what kind of other babies have been this big? and that I was lucky to be 2.5 kg at birth.

Nanotechnology

Have you ever heard of nanotechnology? Coz if you go to my school Im sure you have! But incase you are not quite sure about this I will first explain to you what nano technology is. In scientific language I would say that Nanotechnology (sometimes shortened to nanotech) is the study of manipulating matter on atomic and molecular scale. Now, in case you have not read the last thing that Dr Aliv, Aliev discovered here is it. Dr. Ali Aliev, a research scientist at UT Dallas, and his colleagues recently demonstrated that transparent carbon nanotube sheets, which can have the density of air and the specific strength of steel, can be used to make objects invisible.

While reasherching about this fact, I kept on thinking about this interesting fact. I couldnt belive what nontechnology could do! In my opinion its like scientific magic, If there is such a thing.

Trees On Tundra's Border Are Growing Faster in a Hotter Climate

Did you ever hear about Tundra? or even the word Tundra? Well incase you havent you should know that Tundra is a biome where the tree growth is hindered by low temperatures and short growing seasons.Anyway did you know that Evergreen trees at the edge of Alaska's tundra are growing faster, suggesting that at least some forests may be adapting to a rapidly warming climate, says a new study.

I fins this interesting because I just learned what the Tundra is, and in the same time I learned that the trees on Tundra are growing faster in a warmer climate then usual.

Killer Solar Flares Are a Physical Impossibility, Experts Say

Given a legitimate need to protect Earth from the most intense forms of space weather great bursts of electromagnetic energy and particles that can sometimes stream from the sun  some people worry that a gigantic "killer solar flare" could hurl enough energy to destroy Earth. Citing the accurate fact that solar activity is currently ramping up in its standard 11-year cycle, there are those who believe that 2012 could be coincident with such a flare. But this same solar cycle has occurred over millennia. Anyone over the age of 11 has already lived through such a solar maximum with no harm. In addition, the next solar maximum is predicted to occur in late 2013 or early 2014, not 2012.

The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory spacecraft captured this image of a solar flare as it erupted from the sun early on Tuesday, October 28, 2003. This was the most powerful flare measured with modern methods.  Most importantly, however, there simply isn't enough energy in the sun to send a killer fireball 93 million miles to destroy Earth.
Now that I know this im starting to think more deeply about the earth and the enviorment. I still cant belive tis fact though. This makes me feel smart becasue I learned something new, and I learn something really big.

Molecule That Prevents Type 1 Diabetes in Mice Discovered; Has Similar Effect On Human Cells

The findings, published in the latest edition of The Journal of Immunology, signal a new and promising direction in the fight against type I diabetes along with other autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and celiac disease.

I found this very interesting, because it can change us all, and I am looking foward to learning more about it!

Alternating training improves motor learning (Current Event)

            Alternating training improves motor learning

Just a few days ago scientists discovered that alternating training improves motor learning. According to the Journal of Neuroscience. Researchers from the Kennedy Krieger Institute found that forcing people to switch from a normal walking pattern to an unusual one — and back again — made them better able to adjust to the unusual pattern the following day. The findings may help improve therapy for people relearning how to walk following stroke or other injury.

I find this interesting, coz it's the frist time im writing about something like this. Also I never knew that altertating training inproves motor learning. I didnt really get this 100% but I think I know wht they are talking about.

The rainbow experiment

Today in class we made experiments and made a rainbox experiment. In this picture you can see me holding the experiment and my friend Sooyoung next to me. :)

Scientists Discover 'Fickle' DNA Changes in Brain

Just two days ago, scientists finished there reaserch on the mice brain. They concluded that there are some DNA changes in brain. Doctor Johns Hopkins is still investingating this chemical change. They say that this change can be dangerous and may provide more diseases for the adult miceAnyway, this also may leed to a good thing.

I think that scientists are trying their best to find more about this adult mice  chemical change. To be honest there wasnt much information about this topic becasue its new, but I think it will be a big thing, once it's discovered.  In my opinion i think that this is an interesting topic to write about, and it made me feel wierd.

Raptor Fossils

New Raptor Fossils

Fossils from the six-foot long Talos Samposonsi who lived approximately 75 million years before out time in Utah area reveal new information about Raptor Dinosaurs.

New founding strengthened the theory that the raptor dinosaur carried its giant toe off the ground, which explains why raptor tracks lack claw marks.

Most likely, the dinosaur used its claw to pin down small animals and slash bigger prey.

Further more, analysis of this new fossil suggests that the raptor was an omnivore.
With an injured claw it was unable to hunt and had to eat plants and other food in other to survive while healing. Its teeth also revel structure of those found in plant eating reptiles.

However, the scientists insist, the true behavior of this animal with always remain controversial and new evidence can only help us make better hypothesis.

Scientific Summer

This Summer I did a lot of things. Some of those things were Scientific and some were not, but I have some interesting things to write about. One of the things that were scientific were Tanning, going on roller coaster rides and shopping. HAHAHAHAH Im kidding, Shopping is not really a scientific thing. :PPP But It was fun.. As I was saying I did a lot of tanning during the summer, and that's scientific because when you are tanning your skin changes color, because of the sun. The sun is very hot and sometimes when you tan a lot you can get skin cancer, but anyway I have more about the other topics I did that were scientific. I also planted flowers, I had to figure out the procedure and everything. I think that this is scientific becasue its something to do with nature.

Three Goals For Science

1. Pay more attention in class

2. Study at home

3. atary to enjoy all of the things we do in science (I ALREADY DO!)
